Ecards.co.uk is a fantastic free to send ecard site with some very funny cards and many that you can personalize by uploading your own photos. It's also easy to navigate and creating your own cards is a breeze. 

The selection of ecards tends towards the contemporary and the humorous. On the homepage you'll find a list of ecard categories arranged by occasion (e.g. birthday, get well soon, New Year) and theme (e.g. friendship, jokes, retro). Birthday ecards are forefronted and you'll find the widest collection pertaining to birthdays (over 100), whereas you may find far fewer cards in other categories. In addition to browsing by category, there's a simple search engine if you have something specific in mind. All together, you'll find several hundred cards of various types on the site. For a free ecard site the quality of cards is very good. Furthermore, editing and personalising your card is easy and swift too. Just remember that you need a valid email address in order to send an ecard. Whilst there's no formal registration process, the site requires you to enter your details when you send a card.

'Face It' cards are funny animated cards with sound that allow you to upload portrait photos in order to add your chosen face to the animated content. So, you might choose to personalise a flying superman, Elvis or a can-can dancer featuring you, or your recipient's photo. They're a lot of fun and easy to create. The process of uploading portraits and adding them your 'saved heads' collection is very easy, and full instructions are given. It only takes a couple of minutes to create a really fun card that's bound to make the recipient's day. You can schedule all ecards to be sent either immediately or up to a year in advance.

If you're looking for printed greeting cards to send to somebody on a special occasion, you'll also find these available (by linking to a another site). You can choose to have these mailed back to you with a blank envelope, or mailed directly to the recipient for a reasonable price and the quality is as you would expect when buying a card at the store. There are around 20 categories of printed cards to browse arranged by occasion (e.g. anniversary cards, congratulation cards, Christmas cards) and a few themed categories (e.g. humour cards, love and romance cards, spoof cards). Almost all card designs can be personalised by uploading your photos, as well as adding your own text messages. In addition to the greeting cards selection you can also browse invitation cards (party invitations and wedding invitations). So, whilst printed cards are not the mainstay of this site, you'll still find a reasonabe  selection, should you want something other than an ecard. You can browse through the various categories or use the simple search engine at the top of the category list if you have something specific in mind. The choice will vary depending on the occasion (e.g. at the time of this review there were nearly 100 birthday cards and less than 10 Christening cards) so it's difficult to generalise about the breadth of choice. Suffice to say that some of the sites rated higher in this category are more dedicated to printed cards, and being such, will have more to offer (e.g. check out Moonpig.com).

With reference to other features, you can download an app that allows you to send printed postcards from your iPhone or Android, enabling you to print and send a card for just £1.49. You simply select a new photo or a photo from your phone's media library, write a message, add the address and it's mailed that day (to anywhere in the world). Payment can only be made via PayPal for this feature. Finally, there's a useful FAQs section on the site and email support should you need it. However, there's no dedicated phone assistance, so it's not possible to resolve your query immediately.

Ecards.co.uk is a great, fun and free to use ecard site, which also offers a range of printed greeting cards. Easy to use and with some nice features for a free site, you can make somebody smile today.
